So what special ingredient makes Circle work so seamlessly? Well, Circle uses a technique called, “ARP spoofing”, which sounds alarming, right? And it’s true, ARP spoofing can be used by “black hats” to compromise network security. But the technique can also be used for good, like with Circle. Circle uses ARP spoofing to automatically monitor all traffic on the home network, without the need for any special configuration. Pretty cool huh?!

One unique aspect of Circle is that your data lives on the device. That means that all your surfing history for your family stays stored on your Circle and isn’t up in the cloud somewhere. We don’t sell this data, we don’t mine it; heck, we don’t even access it except to relay it to your iOS app. Circle is proud to be in full compliance with COPPA standards. It’s your data, it should belong to you.
How it works.
Circle isn’t a router, but does pair wirelessly with yours. Circle is designed to work with a single network and manage all the website requests from all the devices in the home. From there each user’s settings kick in. If a request is allowed, all the web traffic goes directly from the home Wi-Fi to the device. Guest networks and subnetworks of your home Wi-Fi are not additionally managed.

Need a fast connection? Use Circle’s Ethernet cable to plug directly into your home router. That way, Circle can work without slowing things down.
